Grace Family Institute

GfBC is committed to the raising up of men for the purpose of church leadership.  We believe that it is the local churches responsibility to equip men to be pastors and elders, deacons, etc.  Grace Family Institute was designed to assist the Elders of GfBC in this process.  The institute consists of a two year training period followed by different types of internships for the purpose of testing the call of men who have a desire to lead in the Lord's church.  

Year One

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Year one of Grace Family Institute’s two-year training course is designed to equip students with pastoral and theological training in, hermeneutics, exegesis, Biblical theology, systematic theology, and homiletics. Study in these foundational areas will provide students with tools for handling the word of God that will impact both life and ministry (2 Tim 3:16).

COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of this course is to provide students with skills in exegesis, Biblical and theological interpretation, and homiletical preparation in order that the student may handle the word of God for ministry in the home and in the Pastorate. This course will be taught and overseen through the local church for the preparation of men with the goal of preparing them for the Shepherding the church.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course:

  1. The student will synthesize the required course books, workbooks, and lectures for effective preaching and ministry.
  2. The student will analyze, select, and use appropriate Bible study references for Bible interpretation, and short sermons.
  3. The student will write and articulate key doctrines of the Christian faith.
  4. The student will know and use Biblical Theology for interpretation, Christ-centered preaching, and ministry in the local church.
  5. The student will demonstrate advanced competence in inductive Bible study through accurate observation, interpretation, and applications for both Old and New Testament passages.
  6. The student will produce exegetical, and homiletical outlines to be turned in and evaluated.
  7. The student will commit to a form of preaching that goes beyond a mere explanation of content.
  8. The student will recognize the value of Reformed Baptist doctrine & theology, & it’s relevance to confessional churches.
  9. The student will ultimately know God better, in order to be better equipped for effective ministry in the home, and in the local church for the Glory of God! 

 

Year Two

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Year two of Grace Family Institute’s two-year training course is designed to equip students with specialized study in advanced pastoral issues, and church planting. Students will research and study the issues of preaching, church planting and evangelism, Biblical counseling, leadership, worship, family worship, and Biblical worldview.

COURSE PURPOSE

The purpose of this course is to equip students with a Biblical view of pastoral ministry, as they develop skill in the practical matters within pastoral ministry. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course:

  1. The student will synthesize the required course books, workbooks, and lectures for effective ministry.
  2. The student will analyze, select, and use various resources for research upon the given topic in pastoral ministry.
  3. The student will write and articulate a their convictions and philosophy for pastoral ministry.
  4. The student will demonstrate leadership and skill in conducting various services.
  5. The student will produce Biblical theological sermons.
  6. The student will commit to a form of preaching that goes beyond a mere explanation of content.
  7. The student will recognize the value of reformed doctrine and theology, and it’s relevance to confessional churches, and pastoral ministry.
  8. The student will know God better, in order that we might be better equipped for effective ministry in the home, and in the local church for the Glory of God!
