Psalm 75

This edition of Psalm 75, taken from The Psalter, 1912 edition, is one of the favorites at Grace Family Baptist Church.  It is always a pleasure to hear the moving lines sung antiphonaly between the men and women of the congregation.  This song emphasizes the thanks that we give to God and his providence in honoring or bringing low anyone among men.

To Thee, O God, we render thanks,
To Thee give thanks sincere,
To Thee give thanks sincere,
Because Thy wondrous works declare
That Thou art ever near. (x4)

Thy righteous judgment, Thou hast said,
Shall in due time appear,
Shall in due time appear,
And Thou Who didst establish it
Wilt fill the earth with fear. (x4)

Thou teachest meekness to the proud,
And makest sinners know
And makes sinners know
That none is Judge but God alone,
To honor or bring low. (x4)

Jehovah holds a cup of wrath,
And holds it not in vain,
And holds it not in vain,
For all the wicked of the earth
Its bitter dregs shall drain. (x4)

The God of Israel I will praise
And all His glory show;
And all His glory show;
The righteous He will high exalt
And bring the wicked low. (x4)
