April Walk in Truth Newsletter

Walk in Truth Newsletter April 2011   In This Issue Featured Article Question of the Month Baucham Family News Event Update Family Discipleship Corner Special Offer   Featured Article:  The Church, The Family, and Discipleship:  Part Two,  by Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr. (From the upcoming book, Family Shepherds, due out in October from Crossway)   Biblically Functioning Homes The third and final leg of the discipleship stool is the biblically functioning home.  This is seen directly in Paul's warning in 1:10-11 concerning the urgent need for rebuking those who contradict sound doctrine: "For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers ...

Govt. Education & the The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America

If you think government education is ‘benign’, think again.  Our school systems are insidious places .  There is no such thing as morally neutral, or theologically neutral education.  All education is discipleship, and every educator is a discipler.  Moreover, no matter where you live, and no matter how many “Christian” teachers you have in your school, they don’t write or control the curriculum.  The people calling the shots are people like Charlotte Iserbyt.  Listening to her is like watching a Sci-Fi movie.  If you don’t believe what she’s saying, ask a seasoned Christian teacher with a well-grounded biblical ...

Daddy’s Little Girl (February ’10 Edition)

“STRENGTH AND DIGNITY ARE HER CLOTHING” By Jasmine Baucham   Last summer, I spent a week in Louisiana with a dear friend of mine who was there for the summer nannying for her aunt and uncle. I had never been to New Orleans before, and hadn't seen my friend for several weeks; also, it was my first time away from home alone (my family had to leave me in Houston with friends once, when a spur-of-the-moment sinus and double-ear infection kept me from hopping a plane to Georgia with them, but that was the closest I'd gotten until then ...

Daddy’s Little Girl (January ’10 Edition)

“I REALIZE YOU’RE JUST PARROTING WHAT YOU’VE BEEN TAUGHT” By Jasmine Baucham   I'm going to be completely honest here:   Some of us have a huge bias when it comes to arguments about education.   You know the kids I'm talking about.   They've been educated in an echo chamber, a place where the curriculum is a unified effort to teach them one way to think.   They learn to view the world through a single lens: the worldview that they're being taught.   They don't live in the real world.   They've told what to think and ...

January Question of the Month

Question Of the Month: What do you think of a Christian being employed by The Youth Ministry of the State Church of Secular Humanism as a teacher? A Loaded, but Important Question I often receive ‘loaded’ questions, but this one wins the prize.  It is obvious that the reader not only has an opinion on the issue; it is also clear what that opinion is.  Nevertheless, the question (in it’s less ‘loaded’ form) is one I receive frequently.  I have chosen to answer this one, because it’s phrasing will help me get straight to the point.  I have ...

Whitehorse inn on Discipleship and Youth Ministry

You absolutely MUST listen to the White Horse Inn’s podcast on Discipleship!  These guys have talked around the Youth Ministry/Intergenerational Discipleship issue for a while now, but this recent broadcast hit the nail on the head.  I could not believe what I was hearing.  Remember, these are not FIC guys.  Nevertheless, they have identified the problems inherent in age-segregated ministry.  At one point Ken Jones says point blank that “the only place we see [systematic age grading] is in the public schools.”  Again, I am not saying these guys are on the FIC side of the ledger.  In ...

The Continuing Collapse: December 2009

WELCOME TO THE CONTINUING COLLAPSE!    By Bruce N. Shortt, J.D., Ph.D. Warning! This Month’s Continuing Collapse contains links to objectionable information about Kevin Jennings.  While we would prefer not to link to such material, it is important that our readers understand the critical nature of the current issues, and what kind of things Jennings promotes.  If you think it is inappropriate to provide said links, keep in mind that this trash is being served up to school children!  We apologize in advance for the offense, but the truth must be told. -VB   Exposing Government Schools: The Youth ...

December Question of the Month

The questions continue to pile in.  Most of the questions are fantastic.  However, some of them are a bit, shall we say, off target.  In fact, I’ll be doing a post later this month on “The Top Ten Reasons I May Not Have Answered Your Question.”  Remember, the goal here is to honor Jesus Christ by “Equipping Believers to Walk in Truth.”  As such, I try to pick questions that are broad, related to the nature and scope of my ministry, and common to a large cross-section of my audience.  Therefore, don’t look for your specific question about ...

November Question of the Month (Update Edition)

This may come as a surprise to some of you, but there are people out there who hate what I say, how I live, and what I stand for.  Some of them will stop at nothing in their efforts to discredit me.   They stoop to gossip, slander, libel, and sometimes death threats (though these have been limited to those who are angered by my outspoken stance on the sodomization of America).  Most of these people claim to be Christians.  However, few of them actually come to me (Matthew 18:15; Luke 17:3; 2 Thess 3:15; Titus 3:10 ...
